Over the years, the perimeter path has been worn down in many stretches to bare dirt. Mulching of the trail was considered, but because the mulch washes out quickly, and because mulching a narrow path would prevent mowing a wider path, it was decided to try mowing a new path to let the existing muddy areas recover and reestablish vegetation. This plan will only work WITH the cooperation of the dog park users.
Please walk on the newly mowed path!
Please! All feet stay off the old perimeter path.
Park’s staff has been aerating and reseeding the old perimeter path. The vegetation can't grow with constant foot traffic. Do your best to discourage your dog(s) from traveling on the old perimeter path. That will require having voice control over your dog - which is a requirement to use the park anyway. It will also mean keeping your eyes on your dog(s) so you can redirect them when necessary - with the added benefit that you may actually see your dog leave a pile, and go pick it up.
